Location

The School of Industrial Design (EDI) is - together with that of Architecture - one of the schools comprising the Faculty of Architecture and Design of our University. It is located at the North of Merida city with an inspiring view of the Sierra Nevada peaks and surrounded by the Faculties of Sciences and Engineering.

Organisation

At the present, our School is constituted by 2 departments, 3 admnistrative committees and one experimental centre for the development of productive skills with extra-mural activities. All of them are coordinated by members of our staff under the general direction of the Head of our School.

Studio examination.

The education of our designers

Our Bachelor degree has a length of five years in which our students attend to 30 mandatory subjects and 4 elective seminars to achieve a total of 194 credits. Such a programme of studies combines the theoretical knowledge provided by different subjects and the development of practical skills of studio work with visits to industries, one industrial / business internship, workshops for the development of specific skills (model making, graphic communication, CAD, etc.) and thematic seminars. In the last academic year students are asked to develop a Graduation Project on a theme of their preference.
